The simplest and easiest way to get feedback on the design and usability issues of your product is to conduct a Best Practice Review. Using guidelines from our own experiences and those documented by other experts in the field, Usability Insights can uncover potential challenges and provide recommendations for solutions.
While a valuable tool for identifying issues in consistency, navigation and design, the Best Practice Review does not evaluate how the user will actually interact with the product.
The Usability Insights consultant examines the interface, screen by screen, looking for violations of compliance with a list of Standards and Guidelines (good design principles). Rather than expressing a personal opinion of the interface, the consultant’s comments focus on adherence to best practices.
Process outline:
- Identify the functionality of pages to be evaluated.
- The Usability Insights consultant inspects the interface, noting compliance of discrepancy with the Standards and Guidelines.
- The consultant compiles a list of identified problems and/or issues with references to the specific usability principles.
- This list is reviewed with the project team in order to analyze the issues and problems, determine solutions and prioritize what changes will be made.
- Implement the changes.
